Participatory geographies social meet-up

The RGS-IBG Annual International Conference 2022 will be hosted at Newcastle University (UK) between Tuesday, 30 August, and Friday, 2 September. You can find out more about the conference here.

The Participatory Geographies Research Group (PyGyRG) are hosting a social meet-up on Wednesday, 31st August at the City Tavern (https://www.citytavern.co.uk/) from 7:30pm. The venue is described as a family friendly, dog friendly, hearty food, and real ale pub in the centre of the wonderful and diverse city of Newcastle.

The social will provide a fantastic opportunity to meet and talk with other participatory researchers over drinks and snacks in a friendly, inclusive, and accessible space. Everyone is welcome, whether you consider yourself a participatory researcher or are just interested in finding out more!

We have reserved an area on the ground floor of the Tavern, which is very close to Newcastle University campus on 10 Northumberland Road, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE1 8JF.

The City Tavern will be serving drinks from their menu, and complementary canapés will be offered as a snack! Canapés will be served at 8pm.

Vegetarian, vegan, and gluten free options will be available. Please get in touch with Caitlin Hafferty (chafferty1@glos.ac.uk) if you plan to attend and have any specific dietary requirements or allergies.

This event is organised in conjunction with the Royal Geographical Society (with IBG) annual international conference, and is sponsored by the Participatory Geographies Research Group (PYGYRG). Find more details in the conference programme.

Access information: the City Tavern is a short 5-10 minute walk, or car ride, from Newcastle University Campus (click here for a link to Google Maps). We have reserved an area of the Tavern in the garden which has step free access (the garden is covered but if the weather takes a turn for the worse, we can move inside to the ground floor by the bar).

Click here for more information about the venue and the City Tavern’s drinks menu.

Please also note that the City Tavern has four resident bar dogs, Alfie, Hector, Dillon, and Rupert, who are in the bar every day.
